Delayed Harvest Trout Fishing, Ararat River
The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission's delayed harvest is a popular program in which certain waters are stocked with rainbow, brook and brown trout in spring and fall. Anglers are only allowed to harvest (keep) their catches from early June through September, thus creating better fishing conditions throughout the year. Delayed harvest fishing is available in the Ararat River in Mount Airy between NC Hwy. 103 and Tharrington School. Access can be found along the Ararat River Greenway.
