Historic Rockford
The Village (ca. 1789-1900) was once the seat of government for Surry County when it encompassed modern day Yadkin and Surry counties. Many notables of the day, including Andrew Jackson, Aaron Burr and James K. Polk were visitors in Rockford. A number of historical buildings remain thanks to strong efforts by local preservationist. Folks can visit such establishments as the Rockford General Store Rockford Park, Rockford Inn Bed & Breakfast and the old Rockford Methodist Church. There is a stop on the NC Civil War Trail, as well as a Yadkin River Adventures, a canoe and kayak outfitter.
