What started as a hobby turned into a passion for owners Gene and Latonna.

The Mount Airy Museum of Regional History houses an exhibit on the musical career of Grammy Award winning country music star Donna Fargo, including stage outfits, photographs, records and other memorabilia.

Displays and exhibits focus on arts and culture, natural history, Old Time music, the Saura Indians, Eng and Chang Bunker, the way of life and culture of settlers, the granite quarrying industry, life at the turn of the century & more.

Long-time barber Russell Hiatt, who cut the hair of a young Andy Griffith, has moved on to that great barbershop in the sky, but his son Billy keeps the business going.

Located inside the Earle Theatre, the Old-Time Music Heritage Hall recognizes Mt. Airy's role as the center of old-time genre and birthplace of famed fiddler Tommy Jarrell.

Stay overnight in Andy's boyhood home, complete with his birth certificate on the wall. Owned/rented by the local Hampton Inn and includes breakfast at the hotel.

The bake shop specializes in pies, but is also known for cupcakes, sonker, cookies, danishes, ice cream and other delights.

Established by the U.S. Congress in 1985, the site includes an outdoor amphitheater and indoor interpretive center used to highlight an important strand of American musical culture, still alive and thriving in the region.
